As Hannover played host to the 65th International Motor Show at the end of September, Vacu-Lug travelled to the show to see the launch of the new Westlake tyre range.

The Vacu-Lug team (comprising of Tim Hercock, Neil Marston and Dave Alsop) were pleased to be accompanied on their trip by Andrew Christmas, Managing Director of Lodge Tyre, and Matt Quenby, Head of Business Development at ATS Euromaster.

The International Motor Show (IAA) originated over a century ago, beginning humbly as a small motor vehicle exhibition. As the popularity of the IAA grew, the exhibition developed into the world’s leading trade fair for mobility, transportation and logistics.

Visitors travel from far and wide to visit the IAA show every year and are provided with a wide-ranging overview of the industry from the array of exhibitions that are on show.

Vacu-Lug’s main interest in attending the show was to witness the launch of the new Westlake Truck and Bus Tyres range.

Produced by Zhongce Rubber Group, the Chinese tyre manufacturer, Westlake’s slick new range consists of four types of tyre – Long Haul, Regional, Urban and Mixed Service.

The ‘Long Haul (Long Run)’ range produces tyres built specifically to withstand long distance journeys and is designed to consume less fuel.

Their new ‘Regional’ range of products is designed to suit shorter distance journeys (similar to UK operations) and is designed to withstand challenging road conditions on motorways and A and B roads.

Focusing on journeys which require frequent manoeuvres and changes in speed, the ‘Urban’ range boasts tyres with an excellent road grip and a resistance to kerb impact on the tyre’s sidewall.

Westlake’s fourth new addition is the ‘Mixed Service (Mixed Terrain)’ range, tailored for vehicles carrying heavy loads, and these tyres are suitable for on and off road journeys.

Vacu-Lug will begin distributing Westlake’s new range within the first quarter of 2015 so keep an eye out for further news.
